Assignment Capsule

As a Finance/Accounting Tax Accountant you will: manage moderately complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of assigned local, state and federal tax returns and reports. You will also continually search for areas of improvement, developing and introducing new ideas and processes which will help increase accuracy and productivity.


  • Research applicable transaction taxes in all jurisdictions in which Humana operates, documenting necessary processes and creating procedures which ensure compliance
  • Review and prepare state and local tax returns, partnering with the Corporate Accounting, Legal, Treasury and Systems Development departments to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain and provide timely and accurate reconciliations of various general ledger accounts
  • Compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analysis and reporting purposes, utilizing computer applications and tax software
  • Maintain tax calendars

Qualifications:
Role Essentials
  • Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Business or a related field
  • Prior accounting experience, preferably with a sales and use-tax background
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tax compliance regulations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Role Desirables
  • Experience with computerized tax software programs
Reporting Relationships

You will report to a Tax Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Financial Officer.
